Tips for Healthier Winter Skin
The winter season is drawing near and this can be the worst time for our skin, especially if you suffer from dryness.
During winter, the cold air steals moisture from your skin and leads us to spend more time indoors, where we are exposed to forced air or heaters which decreases the humidity. Many people find that because of this change our skin starts to become dry, itchy, and sometimes irritable. The good news is that a few simple changes to your skincare routine can really help with these issue! So we have come up with some tips for your skincare routine this winters to keep the dryness away and your skin looking good!
Use a moisturising cleanser
Use a moisturising cleanser that will help to hydrate your skin while washing away impurities without stripping moisture from your skin leaving it feeling tight or dry. A good cleanser we recommend is our Roses & Honey cleanser. An all natural hydrating cleanser that won’t make your skin feel dry.
Use a serum
Serums really are a must to maximise your skincare routine. They provide an extra layer or hydration and are made with high concentrations of active ingredients that can deeply penetrate the skin, much deeper than your moisturiser can.
Honeybliss has two amazing serums that our customers love (just check out some of our reviews)!
“This oil serum is lovely, it just absorbs into my skin and feels so moisturising. After a few weeks of use my skin looks more radiant and fine lines look less prominent now.” – Nancy Barker
Our Roses and Honey replenishing serum is a super hydrating natural oil serum that boasts a powerhouse of amazing anti-oxidant and super hydrating oils. These work together with essential oils of pure rose with high levels of Vitamin C to add brightness and help fade skin discolorations, boosting hydration.

Our Soothing & Hydration Serum is a very gentle soother for many types of irritated skin conditions including eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis, reactive or irritated skin. It is suitable for all skin types by providing deep hydration while soothing and moisturising without added oil. Whichever serum you want to choose, they will provide the extra nourishment your skin needs and supercharge your skincare routine!
Go easy on exfoliants and scrubs
If your skin is feeling irritated, dry or flaky it is best to avoid exfoliation until your skin is healed so it doesn’t break down your skin’s moisture barrier and cause more damage.
Add occlusives to your skincare routine
Occlusive ingredients provide a protective seal over the surface of the skin to lock moisture into the skin and prevent loss of hydration. They also help help prevent irritants, allergens and other harmful particles from entering your skin. Examples of occlusive ingredients include Rosehip oil, jojoba oil, cocoa butter, argan oil, beeswax, tamanu oil, squalene, lanolin, etc. The best way to work these products into your routine is to make sure you use a moisturiser that contains occlusives in their ingredients.
Our Roses & Honey moisturisers are super-hydrating, nourishing, and repair your skin while increasing your skin cell turnover and reducing fine lines and wrinkles. They contain many occlusive ingredients like Calendula, Rosehip oil, Argan oil, Squalene and Beeswax to assist with hydration problems, while slowing down the skin cell aging process.
Apply serum straight after showering or after using a warm flannel on your face
After showering or washing your face with warm water, pat dry your skin with a towel and immediately apply a good serum and moisturiser. When you apply moisturiser to skin that’s really dry it won’t be as easily absorbed as when your skin is still slightly damp and your pores are still open from the warmth of the steam. This way your serum and moisturizer will penetrate deeper into the skin and provide deeper hydration.
Look for natural, fragrance-free products
Products that smell like a bouquet of flowers or sweet perfume have lots of artificial ingredients in them to make them smell this way. These ingredients can be very irritating for your skin and as they accumulate over time they can eventually cause your skin to be dry and itchy. Natural products are always better for your skin as they don’t contain any chemical irritants.
Indulge in a natural creamy body butter
Lots of body butters you find on the market have a high water content. This helps to make them easier to spread and apply but reduces the moisture it provides for your skin. Look for a body butter without added water but lots of skin strengthening and deeply moisturising ingredients such as shea butter and hydrating oils like Jojoba Oil.
Our Mango Lemon & honey Body butter cream is made with Mango and shea butter, Coconut , Jojoba and Macadamia oil, Vitamin E, and Active Manuka Honey. We don’t use water in our body butters so the cream packs a powerful punch full of hydration and moisture. It will leave your skin moisturised all day!
